Roundtable on the Silk Road, the New World Order and EU-China Relations

The Brussels Academy for China and European Studies (BACES), the Institute for European Studies (IES) in cooperation with the Charhar Institute from Beijing held a roundtable on the subject of The Silk Road, the New World Order and EU-China Relations on October 6, 2015.

The meeting chaired by Dr. Duncan Freeman of BACES, brought together a delegation from the Charhar Institute, one of China’s leading think tanks on international relations, with representatives of think tanks in Brussels as well as academics from the VUB and other institutions. The Charhar Insititute delegation included Ke Yinbin,  Secretary-General and Senior Fellow, Huang Youyi, Secretary-General and Member of the International Advisory Board, Zhao Kejin, Senior Fellow and Deputy Professor of Tsinghua University and Li Xia, Head of International Communications. A presentation by Prof Zhao Kejin on the development of China’s foreign policy and its relationship with the New Silk Road, or One Belt, One Road, was followed by a wide-ranging and in-depth discussion of China’s foreign policy and relations with Europe.
